So my first question is what hook size and what type of hook is best for tuna ? After looking through a bunch of patterns, mostly on www.firstlightanglers.com (these guys know there stuff) I have decided on 2/0 and 4/0 Owner AKI hooks. I definitely think you need a hook that can stand up to a big pull and that is going to be super sharp. These hooks have a straight shank on them and a black finish, which will hopefully blend in a little better. My next decision, is what patterns am I going to tie for each species. Of course this is going to be determined by whether we are catching them on the chunking bite, which is the way Brian Horsley (www.outerbanksflyfishing.com) does it or casting to breaking fish. I think I am going to prepare for either or, so a list of patterns will be coming soon.
